Ever look in the mirror and start pulling back skin that you wish was tighter?  If you are wondering where all that lax skin came from, you probably wonder what a face lift might do for you.  Call our office for a free consultation in Visalia, Fresno, or Bakersfield so that Dr. Yoho can take a look and tell you just what improvements you can expect.  Over all, face lift procedures are best for taking up sagging jowl and neck skin.  However, there are so many other variables that you won’t really know just what will work best for you until you speak to a surgeon.

Many people worry about their post-surgical look.  They want to look better, younger, and tighter, but they want to look natural as well.  At all costs, they want to avoid the over-tightened appearance that says, “I’ve had a face lift”.  Instead, people want to recognize themselves after surgery.  This is why choosing the right surgeon is so important.  Also, being very clear and open during the consultation process is crucial so that your doctor can address all of your concerns and design the right approach.  In fact, a full face lift might not be the right answer for you at all.

Cosmetic surgery is becoming more refined, because people want to look natural after their improvements.  Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, a combination of smaller procedures will often be the best way to customize changes to the face.  Dr. Yoho believes that the simplest and shortest procedures that fit the patient’s wishes are the best options.  This is because the more time patients spend in the operating room, the longer time they need to spend in recovery and the greater the chances of pain and complications.  He prefers the least invasive procedures and the lightest anesthetic techniques.

A face lift is a procedure that involves separating the skin from the underlying tissues during surgery.  A full face lift requires the surgeon to detach most of the face and neck skin in order to reposition it, trim the excess, and then reattach it in a new, lifted position.  The potential for extensive bruising and long recovery times is always present, and the more complicated the surgery, the greater the recovery process.  However, there are options that allow surgeons to make changes to the face without doing a full face lift.  A partial, or mini-lift, is one that involves an incision along the ears, and allows the surgeon to lift and trim excess skin from the neck and lower face without doing the full face lift.  This is a far less invasive procedure that can produce dramatic results.

A face lift is often combined with other procedures to yield highly individualized results.  Eyelid surgery, cheek or chin implants, brow lift, or light peels can be done at the same time as your face lift to give the dramatic improvements that you want without the severe look of simply pulling the skin too tight.  Talk to Dr. Yoho about the look you want to achieve, and he will walk you through the entire procedure, from pre-op to full long-term recovery.
